Located in Texas, this plant focuses on the production of high quality roofing shingles. The plant features twelve silos and a prominent headhouse, both essential to their manufacturing process and brand visibility.

Project Description

GAF engaged Painters USA for an extensive silo and headhouse painting project primarily driven by the need to remove rust and reapply industrial coatings to maintain the structural integrity and appearance of the silos. The scope included significant rust removal, industrial painting, and rebranding efforts to enhance the company's visual identity from afar, on a larger scale than a previous project completed by Painters USA.

Scope of Work

Rust Removal and Industrial Silo Painting

Surface Preparation: Pressure-washed with a 6000 PSI industrial unit.
Rust Removal: Mechanically tool-cleaned rusted areas; sandblasted sections that couldn't be mechanically prepped to meet SSPC-SP3 specs.
Priming and Coating:
- Spot-primed with Sherwin-Williams Macropoxy 920 Pre-Prime.
- Applied one coat of SW Macropoxy 646 100% Solids Epoxy.
- Finished with one coat of SW Hi-Solids Polyurethane, Gloss-White.
Quality Assurance: Provided daily proof of coating thickness.

Branding and Labeling

Silo Chutes: Labeled using a low-tack stencil and SW High-Solids Polyurethane.
Headhouse Logo: After thorough surface prep and painting, applied an unmistakable GAF logo using a similar stencil and coating process.
