Client and Facility Overview

Our client is an oil and gas manufacturing company located in Lafayette, Indiana. The Lafayette plant is a bustling hub of activity with diverse manufacturing processes, including areas for pedestrian traffic, machine operation, and material handling that require clear and efficient traffic management. The company plays a critical role in supplying components and machinery to the oil and gas sector.

Project Overview

The primary focus of the project was to install an epoxy flooring system and apply line striping to define pedestrian walkways and guide forklifts and other machinery. This initiative was driven by the need to improve safety, organization and efficiency in the busy warehouse and production areas.

Scope of Work

Surface Preparation and Patching

To ensure the durability and integrity of the new flooring system, our team began by preparing the floors using 30/30 diamond floor grinders. This step involved removing the existing floor coating and opening up the concrete surface to be receptive to the new high-build epoxy finish. We also patched existing cracks, holes, and spalls using fast-dry epoxy patch or polyuria, addressing any underlying structural weaknesses.

Priming and First Coat Application

After meticulously preparing the surface, we applied a penetrating epoxy sealer as a primer, followed by a high-build, 100% solids epoxy coating in gray and blue shades. This epoxy system not only provides a tough and aesthetically pleasing finish, but also adds an extra layer of protection to the concrete floors.

One of the biggest challenges was completing the project without disrupting the facility's daily operations. Despite these constraints, our team worked efficiently and effectively to deliver the project on time and within budget.
