The company specializes in liquid and powder blending for industries such as automotive, cleaning, water treatment, and other industrial applications.

Requested Maintenance

South Atlantic Services Inc. required painting for three new tanks as part of their operational setup. The tanks, measuring 10 feet in diameter and 50 feet in height, are essential for their expanding infrastructure needs. With a total scope approaching 5,000 square feet, this was a sizable project aimed at ensuring the longevity and operational efficiency of their new equipment.

Decision Driver and Timing

The primary driver for this project was the need for saltwater protection due to the facility's proximity to the Gulf of Mexico. Proper coating was essential to prevent corrosion and ensure a long service life for the new tanks. The project was to be completed without impacting the plant's operational efficiency.

Scope of Work

Surface Preparation: Sandblasting to remove flash rust on three 10’ diameter x 50’ tall tanks. Debris from sandblasting was collected and disposed of in a Painters USA dumpster.
Masking: Areas under the tank were masked off to prevent paint drips and ensure a clean job.
Painting: The tanks were painted with two coats of PPG Amerlock 2 and one coat of PPG Pitthane Urethane in matching colors of red, white, and blue.
Work Schedule: Work was conducted Monday through Saturday, from 7 am to 5:30 pm, ensuring that tanks were available simultaneously before mobilization to maximize efficiency.

Notable Details

Due to the proximity of the new tanks to the existing ones, special handiwork was required to safely and effectively reach all areas, ensuring that no space was left unprotected. This attention to detail was critical to the success of the project.

Our Texas team, equipped with TWIC cards, met the stringent security requirements of maritime facilities near the Port Houston Ship Channel complex, demonstrating our ability to work in sensitive and secure environments.
