Our client, a well-established medical testing laboratory located in the suburbs of Chicago, is dedicated to providing accurate and timely diagnostic services to healthcare providers and patients. Decision Driver and Timing

Laboratory management needed a flooring solution that was not only low maintenance and aesthetically pleasing, but also improved the sanitary conditions of the facility. After careful consideration, they chose a polished concrete floor with a light stain, complemented by an antimicrobial concrete densifier. Scope of Work

Aggressively sanded floor to remove adhesive residue from previous tile installation
Filled cracks, chips and imperfections with epoxy flash patches
Used 30 grit diamond heads to thoroughly remove the existing coating
Progressed through 60 grit, 100 grit, 400 grit and finally 800 grit diamond heads for a smooth, polished finish
Applied an antimicrobial concrete densifier to ensure a contaminant-free surface
Finished by polishing the floor for a shiny, aesthetically pleasing finish

Notable Details

Our power trowel polishing method allowed us to polish up to 10,000 square feet per day. This efficient technique allowed us to complete the project in a timely manner, minimizing downtime in the lab.
