Cleaning and Painting Aluminum Structures
A recent project took us to the site of a global delivery company near Chicago. Specifically, our mission was to clean and paint both the aluminum structures that surround their bays and the sides of the conveyors that transport the packages they handle. This was a sizeable project as there were 35 bays in all that needed attention.
Our process included the following, and you’ll notice that it began with systematic cleaning and surface preparation:
- Cleaning and sanding to remove dirt, glue and residue (the continual contact with packaging tape left its mark)
- We used Sherwin Williams’ SilverBrite aluminum coating
- We worked over a weekend so that we wouldn’t get in the way of the center’s operations
As you can see in the pictures we included, the project turned out well! The unsightly surface, including the sticky residue, was totally transformed and made ready for action once again.
