Painting facilities for ISO 45001 certification

By Painters USA Team

Last Updated:

ISO 45001 is a new Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) standard, established in March of 2018 as the first international standard dealing with health and safety at work. This new ISO standard has replaced the OHSAS 18001 standard. ISO 45001 includes persons and entities that work under the responsibility of an organization, such as subcontractors and outsourcing providers, incorporating elements of the SCC (Safety Certification for Contractors) health and safety system.

Both ISO 45001 and OHSAS 18001 “swim in the same pool” so to speak, but with notable differences.

Facility painting services to support ISO 45001 certification

Painters USA is not an ISO expert, but we do understand workplace safety and the need for facilities to comply with applicable regulations and standards and to pass audits and inspections.

Painters USA adds value where it’s needed the most—within the factory or operational facility itself. We implement effective, low-cost solutions to enforce workflow and safety policies and procedures. Those solutions include:

  • Line-marking and striping to define pedestrian walkways and control forklift traffic routes.
  • Painted symbols and color-coding to draw attention to fire extinguishers, eye-wash stations, and other safety areas.
  • Painting guard rails and lines around pits or other hazardous areas.
  • Color-coding pipes and pipe racks to differentiate them and identify pipes carrying hazardous fluids.
Inside a factory, a long glossy walkway runs through the center with bright blue floor paint and bold yellow striping, marking a pedestrian path alongside work areas with equipment and pallets.

Common workplace injuries reduced or prevented with functional painting

According to data from OSHA and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, including non-fatal and fatal injuries, the following are some of the most common workplace injuries that can be reduced or prevented by facility painting techniques and sound maintenance:

  • Slips and falls
  • Being struck by moving or collapsing objects
  • Striking against fixed or stationary objects
  • Electrocution

According to Liberty Mutual Insurance, the top 10 causes of workplace injuries cost US businesses more than $1 billion a week. While industries such as manufacturing and construction are at high risk, disabling injuries can occur in any facility, which is why workplace safety is and should be a top concern for everyone.

You can rest assured that Painters USA always keeps safety top-of-mind, backed by our exemplary TRIR and EMR ratings and our ISN RAVS Plus® designation for workplace safety, quality outcomes, and risk management.
