The long holiday weekend of Thanksgiving and the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day can be excellent times for factories and other industrial facilities to schedule downtime and routine maintenance like industrial cleaning, painting and coating walls or other surfaces, and flooring services like concrete floor repairs, concrete polishing or epoxy coatings.
That’s the advice Painters USA VP Paul Cook gives plant managers in Facility Executive.

Flooring projected completed over Thanksgiving
Bergst Special Tools brought in Painters USA to complete a flooring project at its facility while most of its workforce was home over the traditional four-day Thanksgiving holiday. Many flooring projects are well-suited to be finished in four days and ready to return to full service the following Monday morning.
Painters USA crews prepared several areas in the machine shop for application of a new epoxy floor, including a high-performance gloss urethane topcoat to improve clean-up of frequent spills in these areas.
Industrial cleaning project completed over Christmas
Painters USA crews were able to complete another four-day project for a research organization, starting right before Christmas and finishing two days after, which allowed our crews to spend the holiday with their families.
The project involved dry-ice blasting to clean the interior of a 50-foot tower used for flammability testing, along with maintenance on a catwalk inside the tower structure. The EPA- and USDA-approved dry-ice blasting process enables crews to remove soot from the tower without creating secondary waste or chemical residue, since dry ice turns into a vapor.
